Tour description
Lake Chala is the perfect place to get some downtime from the hustle and bustle of city life. Located just 1.5 hours away from Moshi on the border of Tanzania and Kenya, this tranquil location is one fine example of how much natural beauty this country has to offer.
The lake is believed to be the caldera of a volcanic eruption that happened over three million years ago. Now all that remains is a beautiful blue lake surrounded by lush green forest, where you can go kayaking or hiking and see an abundance of different monkeys and birdlife.

Itinerary
We will leave Moshi at around 09:00 AM towards Lake Chala Safari camp where the lake is located. On the way, you will be able to see the everyday life of Moshi. The drive takes about 1.5 hours.
When you arrive at Lake Chala, our guide will take you down to the lakeside, through vividly green flora, with the blue, blue lake ahead of you. You will experience a rocky surface near the lake hence you need to have sturdy and comfortable footwear.
After your hike, you may spend some time sitting by the lakeside enjoying the stillness, only disturbed by birdsong and the gently lapping waters.
You can also jump into a kayak and explore the lake further. You’ll be entertained by the ever-present birdsong and gentle plashing of the water as you row.

You want to stop by the bar at the shore of the lake and have a drink or have a snack at the restaurant. We’ll drive you back to Moshi at around 4:30 PM.
