Travel from Dar es Salaam into the wild heart of Nyerere National Park for a varied safari combining game drives, a boat safari on the Rufiji River and a guided walking safari. Stay at Nje Bush Camp in the remote Serengeti Ndogo area and search for elephant, buffalo, lion, giraffe and the endangered African wild dog. Day-by-Day Itinerary
Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park
Meet your tour manager at your hotel for a short safari briefing, then travel through the scenic Kisarawe route toward Nyerere National Park. Stop for fresh coconut water and seasonal fruit before arriving at the main gate around midday. Enjoy a game drive en route to Nje Bush Camp, then settle in beside the riverbed and enjoy the wilderness surroundings.
Rufiji River Boat Safari and Game Drive
After breakfast, take a boat safari along the Rufiji River from approximately 8:30am to noon. Look for hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds and wildlife gathering along the riverbanks. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush, then continue with an afternoon game drive in search of elephant, buffalo, lion, giraffe and African wild dog before returning to camp for dinner.
Walking Safari and Return to Dar es Salaam
Rise early for a guided walking safari with an armed ranger, observing tracks, plants, insects and the smaller details of the ecosystem. Return to camp for breakfast, then travel back to Dar es Salaam with a final game drive en route.
