Founded in 2018 by Erick Elienea, a former Kilimanjaro Mountain Guide and Safari expert, Alpine Chat Adventure has swiftly grown into one of Tanzania's premier safari and Kilimanjaro trekking operators. We are a locally owned and operated business based in Tanzania, and we're passionate about creating unforgettable travel experiences for our guests.

Company History
First Steps (2017–2018)
The journey began in 2017 when Erick, fresh out of college with a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management from the College of African Wildlife Management in Mweka, decided to work as a safari and Kilimanjaro guide for other companies to gain invaluable experience. The true beginnings of Alpine Chat Adventure took shape at the end of 2018 when, while at Barafu Camp (4,673m) on Mount Kilimanjaro, Erick spotted a curious Alpine Chat bird — a small songbird with a short tail and long legs found at high altitudes. Inspired by the bird's courage and unique spirit, he named his company after it. With the unwavering support of his family, especially his mother Emmy, he registered the company as a tour operator in Tanzania and set up an office in Moshi, his hometown at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Going Online (2019)
In early 2019, Alpine Chat Adventure took the leap to social media and various online platforms. To Erick's amazement, their efforts paid off as they began receiving travelers from all over the world. Both guests and the team were thrilled with the services provided, and the positive feedback fueled the passion to do more and grow the business.
Growing the Team
As the business grew, Erick recruited talented individuals across departments — Sales and Marketing, IT, Tour Operations, Safari Specialists, Kilimanjaro Specialists, Finance, Mountain Guides, Safari Guides, Chefs, and Porters. The focus was on three key criteria: passion for travel, extensive experience in tourism, and expert knowledge in their respective fields.
COVID-19 Era (2020–2021)
When the pandemic brought travel to a standstill, Alpine Chat Adventure chose resilience over discouragement. The company offered full refunds without penalties on all paid tours and didn't let go of a single team member. Instead, they invested in new equipment, enhanced guides' training, and carefully planned new expeditions.
Recovery & Expansion (2022)
As borders reopened, Alpine Chat Adventure was ready to welcome travelers worldwide. Thanks to the team's dedication during the pandemic, particularly in online marketing and sales, the company was one of the local operators to receive a significant number of tourists. A major milestone was reached with the expansion of the fleet — new Land Cruisers and Toyota Noah vehicles for comfort, plus high-quality tents for Kilimanjaro climbers.
Global Partnerships (2023)
The company continued to build momentum, receiving numerous referrals and glowing reviews on platforms like TripAdvisor. Agencies from America, Europe, and Asia reached out to collaborate, expanding Alpine Chat Adventure's global reach and establishing it as a key player in the international tourism market.
Giving Back (2024)
Alpine Chat Adventure made a conscious effort to give back to the community, supporting initiatives including fair wages for workers, healthcare, education, clean drinking water, food relief, and environmental conservation. The company partnered with charitable organizations dedicated to wildlife conservation, human rights, education, and environmental protection.
