Overview
The Lemosho Route is widely regarded as the most scenic route on Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting from the west, it traverses through pristine rainforest and moorland before joining the Machame route. The 7-day itinerary provides excellent acclimatization, resulting in one of the highest summit success rates. This route is also less crowded than Marangu and Machame, offering a more wilderness experience.

Lemosho Gate to Forest Camp
Trek through pristine rainforest. Duration: 3-4 hours.
Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1
Emerge from forest into heath and moorland. Duration: 5-6 hours.
Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2
Trek across the Shira Plateau. Duration: 4-5 hours.
Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp
Pass Lava Tower and descend to Barranco. Duration: 6-7 hours.
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Climb the Barranco Wall. Duration: 4-5 hours.
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Trek to base camp. Early rest for summit. Duration: 3-4 hours.
Summit Day - Uhuru Peak
Sunrise summit at Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Mweka Gate.
