Overview
The Marangu Route is the oldest and most popular route on Mount Kilimanjaro. Known as the Coca-Cola route, it offers hut accommodations rather than camping, making it one of the more comfortable ways to reach the summit. The route approaches the mountain from the southeast and uses the same path for both ascent and descent. While it is considered one of the easier routes, reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895m still requires determination and proper acclimatization. The trail passes through rainforest, heath, moorland, and alpine desert zones, offering incredible variety.
